Spain, XII century. Most part of the country is ruled by the authoritarian Almohad
Empire. The Berber-Muslim dynasty is particularly harsh on the Jewish community. In
such a climate of social control and religious persecution, Ezra Ben, a brilliant Jewish
student, and Nurennahar, a musically gifted Muslim woman, fall in love. Their decision
to stay together will find the opposition of both Muslim and Jewish communities, and
they will soon become outlaws. Romance del Guadalquivir is an amazingly vivid tale
on the dangers of fanaticism and the benefits of intercultural dialogue.
