Fate has not been kind to Avelessa. A tragic run in with a rebel Mer faction, called the Ael, robbed Avelessa of her only family.
Tragedy strikes again in the guise of the “death sickness”. Her mentor is one, of many, to become ill and there is no cure. He believes a pearl, called Sol Fyre, may be their only hope.
