Love across Time--Even a three thousand year span could not stop them from being together
"Mara," breathed Aaron. I have waited three thousand years to see you again, he thought. He heard Prince Zuth's cry and saw him reach for his whip. Aaron only had seconds to save Princess Mara.
Greek Chariot racer Aaron and Egyptian Princess Mara were destined to be together, even if a Pharaoh and a King stood between them. This compelling story is set against the background of Ancient Egypt and Modern day. Princess Mara is betrothed in an arranged marriage to a cruel prince from a neighboring warrior nation. Enslaved Aaron Light Bringer has been given as a gift to the Princess, to train her leopard to pull her chariot. Mara is drawn to this exceptional man, despite his slave status, and her duty to marry the prince.
Modern day archaeologist Aaron has nightmares about escaping from an ancient ruthless prince while attempting to rescue a stunning Egyptian princess. In a cave, he finds gifts left for him by the princess three thousand years earlier. Can he work the spell and go back in time to save her?
Excerpt:
"Oh, god, he's going to ram her," said Sati as Prince Zuth's chariot bore down on Princess Mara's chariot. She tightened her grip on Drastos' hand.
"She'll be safe," said Drastos to Sati, then under his breath he whispered "please be safe, Mara."
Mara's heart was beating like the wings of a hummingbird when the race began. She knew the course so well, having ridden her chariot there many times before. She knew where the path narrowed, where the ground was uneven, and where the sharp turns were. Her lighter chariot and fast horses put her quickly in the lead.
Mara's heart soared. Could she win this and her freedom?
Mara heard the slam of a chariot into a tree, but could not see who it was. She drove fiercely, as though her very life depended on it. She passed through the narrow gap, and then came to a sharp turn. She heard another chariot draw closer to her. Mara risked a glance back. Zuth's chariot was thundering down on her. His chariot rapidly closed the distance between them. In a few more seconds he would be upon her.
Zuth did not know it was her, and he would have no mercy in his quest to win the race.
The mystery charioteer raced up. He maneuvered his chariot between Zuth and Mara. Zuth snarled at the interference.
"Get out of my way," snapped Zuth. He drove his horses even more, making their sides froth with sweat. Zuth tried to pass the mystery charioteer, but the charioteer swerved back and forth, precisely blocking Zuth from advancing.
Zuth uncurled his whip and lashed at the charioteer in his way. The lash cracked through the air, and hit the charioteer’s side. It cut through the cloth and blood welled up. The mysterious charioteer cried out.
The voice sounded familiar, thought Mara. Oh, god, not Aaron. Let it not be Aaron.
