These texts come from the 1582 Rheims and 1610 Douay printings of the portions of the Bible (see the 'History' section at the top of the e-text). The primary sources provide a glimpse both into the history of the Douay-Rheims version and the English language as it is used in the Bible.
Five additional books are included in this version of the Catholic Bible: The Prayer of Manasses, The Third Book of Esdras, The Fourth Book of Esdras, The Prophecie of Abdias and The Catholike Epistle of Iude the Apostle. Supplemental materials include a Preface to the Reader as well as a section “Hard Words Explicated”.
