Australia is a vast sunbaked continent, the size of the USA, that lies south of the Equator. It's uniqueness includes more than 100 creatures that are only found in Australia. Here tourists can cuddle a koala, feed a kangaroo or photograph the Tasmanian tiger. Not all are cuddly, some are deadly, all are interesting.
Most people come for the beaches, the sun and the clear blue oceans crashing ashore but there is a lot more to Australia than that. The flat hot barren interior of Australia also has its attractions. Here tourists can experiencing the color of Uluru (the Red Centre) change as the sun goes down. It is an experience that you'll never forget.
The 'top end' of Australia with its ancient Aboriginal culture and art, together with man-eating crocodiles, is a five hour flight from Sydney. Or you could travel the red dirt road called the Gibb River Road in the Kimberly, safari style or stay at one of the vast cattle stations that dot the north and west Australia.
Or visit the striking modern cities along the coastline. Spend an evening at the Sydney Opera House or visit Melbourne, the food capital of Australia. Check out it's amazing lanes and tapas bars, or try some of the vineyards in Margaret River or the Barossa Valley.
We've been to all these places and loved them. Well, we have lived in Australia for 49 years. Our friends said, "Hey, why don't you write about your experiences". Well, we have.
