Jiu-Jitsu Jack is a children’s book, written and illustrated by Pedro Sauer brown belt, Mark Johnson. The book tells the tale of ten year old Jack, who is forced to use his jiu-jitsu against nine mean monsters. Jack uses a variety of BJJ techniques to thwart his monstrous opponents, including: mata leao, hip throw, guillotine choke, triangle choke, wrist lock, standing arm lock, and others.
The story is written in verse:
“A humongous black spider
Crept into our town,
He chased little dogs,
And pushed people down.
The people were scared,
they said, ‘What should we do now?’
Jack jumped on its back
And used Mata Leao.”
Jiu-Jitsu Jack is a good introduction for kids who are just beginning the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and anyone who appreciates a good kids’ book.
